Nadamucho.com & TBASA Present: Durge Fest ft. The Valley with The Springboards + Lights From Space (EARLY SHOW)
Saturday January 26th, 2013
Originally too “punk” for the rockers, too “rock” for the punks and way too loud and heavy for the indie rock crowd, it took a while for The Valley’s sound to rub off on Seattle.
After toying with the lineup for a few years, main man Dan Beloit and crew recorded their debut self-titled album at Egg Studios with producer Johnny Sangster (The Briefs, Mudhoney, The Makers) in 2004. The Valley was released in 2005 on Swingline records and quickly earned the band live radio slots on KEXP, KNDD and KISW. Their follow up, Purple Octopus EP, went to #1 on KEXP’s variety chart in August of 2007 and was followed by a Bumbershoot performance in 2008.
The band toured through early 2010 and then took couple years off before returning to the scene in late 2012. Reformed with the original bass player Tim Basaraba, Mopper guitarist Doug Manis and Spinning Whips drummer Colin Fadis the Valley is now louder and heavier than ever. Their January 26 headlining gig at Barboza celebrates their new Halloween E.P., which has already been added to rotation at KEXP.
